Creative Generation is excited to offer a paid internship in communications, providing hands-on experience in content creation, press relations, and archiving our projects. The intern will work on the Connected Canopy project and other creative initiatives, gaining skills in crafting compelling communications, expanding their network, and contributing to impactful projects in the arts sector.

Scope of work:
- Produce communication materials including but not limited to images, videos and social media content for the Connected Canopy project
- Press liaison for the Connected Canopy project
- Produce archival content for website of previous and current projects
Dates: November-December 2024
Monthly stipend: $500 (gross)
Location: Remote, as well as in person as needed

What is Creative Generation?
Creative Generation is a public arts platform based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, established in 2017. It works at the intersection of art, community, and urban spaces, fostering creative projects that engage with public art, design, and creative expression. By collaborating with local and international artists, Creative Generation supports innovative cultural initiatives that promote public participation and transform urban environments. Through its diverse partnerships and programs, Creative Generation seeks to champion contemporary Cambodian art and encourage creative dialogues within the community.
What is the Connected Canopy?
The Connected Canopy is an architecture competition created by Creative Generation to support a team of young Cambodians to design and build a community canopy for the Cambodian Living Arts (CLA) office. This initiative will provide the CLA arts community with a permanent venue for workshops, community gatherings, and public performances. Once the winning design team is selected, we will work with them from October to December to bring their vision to life.
What will the Communications Intern do?
- Content Creation for the Connected Canopy Project:
- Design and produce visual and written content, such as images, videos, and graphics, tailored for various platforms including social media and the website.
- Draft engaging captions to update the audience on the progress of the Connected Canopy project.
- Work closely with the project Director to ensure the content aligns with the project’s community-focused theme.
- Press Liaison for the Connected Canopy Project:
- Coordinate press releases and media outreach, ensuring that the project receives appropriate coverage from local and international media.
- Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and maintain positive relationships with journalists and media outlets.
- Archival Documentation:
- Organize and produce archival content for Creative Generation’s website, including written summaries, images, and multimedia related to previous and ongoing projects.
- Work closely with the project Director to ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of project milestones and key moments.
What skills are required?
- Excellent communication skills in English and proficiency in Khmer is required.
- Ability to create content (photography, videography, graphic design).
- Familiarity with Canva and WordPress.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram) and digital marketing tools.
- Interest or experience in press relations (writing press releases, handling media inquiries).
- Strong organizational skills for managing project documentation and archives.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines while being adaptable.

By fostering strong relationships and promoting active engagement, the intern will play a crucial role in aligning project goals with the community and enhancing overall program success.
