Prey Sar is an experimental film and live performance by Shanghai Chang presented by the Creative Generation Performance Series. Shanghai’s work explores themes of sexuality, self-harm, violence and drug use through carefully constructed scenes. Influenced by Italian horror cinema, he skillfully uses color to transform a moment of brutality into one of beauty. As viewers we are equally attracted and repulsed by what we see.

Shanghai is a multi-disciplinary artist and is interested in producing work that pushes boundaries and is sometimes confrontational. He feels that it is unnatural if art doesn’t explore difficult topics that for him are a part of his everyday reality.

For this event Shanghai has produced a new sound piece and live performance that will follow the film screening. The audience is invited to stay for a q&a with the artist at the end of the program.
